The Weston Arts and Crafts Association is pleased to invite you to come visit our Spring Awards Show & Sale. This exciting annual event is located in Weston's historic Josiah Smith Tavern Barn. WACA members fill the barn with a wide variety of locally created Fine Arts and Crafts. The event is always well attended and has become a regular stop for many residents of the metro west area. Sorry, no credit cards, only cash and check!

Awards
During this three day show, the Barn is transformed into a true gallery-like setting, featuring the finest recent works of our members. We invite two judges to come and review the show and to award prizes in both Fine Art and Crafts categories. Each show participant may submit up to three items for consideration in the competition. On Thursday afternoon, the judges review the work and make their selections for the winning works. During the preview party Thursday night, the awards are presented and the judges give a brief explanation about their choices. This event always turns out to be exciting, informative and lots of fun!

Additional Items
On Friday morning, after the judging is done and the awards have been handed out, additional items are brought out for sale. The show is now complete and boasts an impressive range of works from affordable gifts to elegant artwork, jewelry, furnishings and more.

Crafts: Betsy Lenora from the Blue Hill Art Gallery in Somerville.

Statement:

"All my life I have been an art student.  I’ve taken many classes but essentially I consider myself self-taught.  I come from a very creative family.  My grandmother, my mother, father and sisters were all artists in their own right.  I admire them for all the projects they’ve completed while working and raising families.

My appreciation for the craft world dates back to an experience I had when I was 12.  I had attended a craft festival where I was taken by the beautiful and interesting hand- made objects.  The feeling was transforming, almost magical. I came home with an unglazed ceramic incense holder that I still treasure today.  Little did I know that the craft world would be my future career.

My professional experience in the world of fine crafts began eighteen years ago at the award-winning Cambridge Artists’ Cooperative.  We selected, displayed and sold the work of over 200 artists in a wide variety of media.  I was involved in choosing the work for the store and, for the last seven years, I managed the gallery.

As the new owner of Blue Cloud Gallery in Somerville, I am looking forward to incorporating all the knowledge I gathered working for so many fine craftspeople.  I strongly believe in promoting local artisans, and to bring their talents to the attention of my customers.  My personal expertise as a fine art photographer has given me a strong visual sense perfect for designing displays for art and craftwork so as to show it off to its best advantage.  As I curate the work for my new gallery, I specifically look for uniqueness, salability and especially, fine workmanship."

Fine Arts: Destiny Barletta from the Pucker Gallery on Newbury Street.

Destiny M. Barletta is the director of marketing and publications for Pucker Gallery and also serves as the exhibitions curator. Ms. Barletta studied the history of art at Mount Holyoke College and Tufts University and serves as the secretary for the Boston Art Dealers Association. She has worked with the Gallery for eight years and resides in Wayland, Massachusetts.

Pucker Gallery was established on Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood in 1967 and features an eclectic and sophisticated collection of international contemporary and modern art. The gallery exhibits paintings, works on paper, photographs, mobiles and sculptures, as well as a significant collection of fine art ceramics.
